It’s been a cracking couple of weeks on the road with @ibiza.classics @beckyhill @ultranatemusic and @officialrickastley! As Omicron loomed over the land, we ploughed on, performing to over 60,000 people in 7 UK Arenas ✊🏻 If it wasn’t for the vast amounts of catering provided by @happycaterers backed up by the mad skills of team @paddyhocken the orchestra would have surely perished! And what incredible audiences we had, humans who obviously hadn’t been to a gig in a long time and were ready to release large quantities of energy in an orchestral rave setting 😑 Well done to all involved! 🕺💃🏿 📸@danreidphoto

This is important to our survival, and to anyone who works in the touring live event industry. Please sign. Link in bio. Having a European tour schedule was just 'part of the plan' - it allows a project to grow, attract international audiences, fuels artistic creation, inspires reinvestment, and perpetuates a feedback loop of creativity and job retention. Without easy EU touring then groups, creators, productions, and anyone with a stake in 'the show' - will think twice about this way of earning a living. Ultimately, as the cost and admin increase (i.e visas), the passion will dwindle, it won't stack up, and the creative output of the UK will shrink.
A shame really, as we're really quite good at this stuff. Some say the best. To help prevent this we would like the UK Government to negotiate a free cultural work permit that gives visa free travel throughout the 27 EU states for music touring professionals, bands, musicians, artists, TV and sports celebrities that tour the EU to perform shows and events, plus a Carnet exception for touring equipment. If you prefer things in numbers, these figures below outline the value of what needs to be protected: • The Live Music sector made contributions of £1.1 billion in 2018
• The total export revenue of the music industry was £2.7 billion in 2018.
• Music tourism alone contributed £4.5 billion spend to the UK economy in 2018 - up 12% from £4 billion in 2017.
