Sharon Van Etten is a folk and indie-rock singer-songwriter from New Jersey US. An extremely talented artist, Van Etten has mastered the role of a striking vocalist, along with the guitar, piano, omnichord, percussion and harmonium.
A dedicated choir student during her childhood, Sharon studied clarinet, violin, and piano before moving on to guitar – no wonder she slotted in so well when she joined the Heritage Orchestra at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall guesting on ‘New York: Sound of a City’. On this she performed her big tune ‘Every Time the Sun Comes Up’, her collaboration piece ‘Omnion’ with fellow guest Hercules & Love Affair, plus a rendition of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down)’.
